2012 UP Korean Culture Festival (2012년 UP 한국 문화 축제)

Hooray for the 2012 UP Korean Culture Festival! Of course the UP Department of Linguistics is organizing this event and this year, there will be a Korean Speech Contest, Korean Song Competition and Korean Food Fair!

Here are the guidelines for the Korean Speech Contest and for the Korean Song Competition:

KOREAN SPEECH COMPETITION

Contestants

–          Previously or currently enrolled in any Korean language course (Koreyano 10, 11, 12, 13, or the UP Linguistics Extramural Classes) in UP Diliman

–          Have not gone to Korea for language training or exchange student program

Speech

–          Must be written by the contestant in Korean language with an English translation

–          Must not be more than four (4) minutes when read

–          Must be in the subject of “What about Korea Motivates Me”

Requirements

–          Accomplished application form

–          Hard copy of the speech in both Korean and English versions

–          Recording of the speech in an audio file

–          Deadline for application:  25 July 2012 (Wednesday)

–          Announcement of finalists: 28 July 2012 (Saturday)

KOREAN SONG COMPETITION

Contestants

–          Previously or currently enrolled in any Korean language course (Koreyano 10, 11, 12, 13, or the UP Department of Linguistics Extramural Classes) in UP Diliman

–          Must not have any previous or present professional career in singing

–          Able to sing in the Korean language

Performance

–          Songs must be sung in Korean

–          Solo, duo, group (maximum of 7 members), and accompanied performances are allowed

–          Musical accompaniment must be provided by the contestant

–          Must not exceed five (5) minutes

Requirements

–          Accomplished application form

–          Deadline for application: 16 July 2012 (Monday)

–          Screening: 21 July 2012 (Saturday)

Announcement of finalists: 24 July 2012 (Tuesday)
